1) Daily Show Night with Voter Registration
Join Democrats Abroad Switzerland this Wednesday, the 22nd, for a screening of The Daily Show, and a chance to hang out with some like-minded Americans (and any/all non-American family and friends!)
We will also be registering voters for the upcoming election, and training anyone who's interested in helping us to get out the vote, so that they can help others register in the future. (Votes from abroad tipped the scales in six major races during the last election cycle – we need all the help we can get to make sure they make a difference again this year, and in our favor! This is especially important because voting laws have changed since 2008!)
The event will start at 7:30 p.m., and we will begin the screening at 8:30 p.m.

2) Obama campaign fundraising event with Bob Bauer in Geneva
As part of our goal to educate DACH members about Democratic Party fundraising activities taking place in the Switzerland, we are happy to announce such activities that are made known to us. This event is not organized, funded, or conducted for the benefit of Democrats Abroad.
Charles Adams, gracious host and frequent fundraiser for President Obama's campaign, is once again opening his beautiful home to the American community for an evening cocktail and light supper reception on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in Geneva's Old Town, on the occasion of the visit of Bob Bauer, former White House Counsel and now General Counsel of the Obama for America campaign. A close and trusted advisor to the President, Mr. Bauer is deeply involved in all of the complex legal issues surrounding the unfolding presidential re-election campaign, notably including the pushback against Republican initiatives in many states to impede ballot access for likely Democratic-voter demographic groups.
A special ticket price of $100 has been set for our young professionals community.

3) Americans in Switzerland Town Hall in Bern
American Town Hall Meetings kicked off in Geneva earlier this month and continues to the next city on the schedule, Bern, on Wednesday February 29th. In a new partnership initiative launched jointly by the US Embassy in Switzerland and leaders of American clubs and political organizations in Switzerland, the Town Hall Meetings will serve as a forum in which we will solicit the views of U.S. citizens in our communities on the role of the United States in the world today, and how current U.S. laws and regulations affect their ability to live and work abroad.
The meetings will also discuss how the knowledge, experiences and recommendations of overseas Americans can be more effectively communicated to the relevant leaders in the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. Government. Read more about the partnership behind this initiative here.
Come meet the U.S. Ambassador Donald Beyer, the Embassy staff and U.S. Consular staff

7) Democrats Abroad Global Primary Election, May 3rd: Save the Date
Democrats Abroad Switzerland will be holding a Global Primary election in Geneva on the evening of Thursday May 3rd. We invite all our members to cast your ballot for our 2012 nominee for President of the United States, Barack Obama. This is the second time DA will hold a Global Primary election and for the first time, the ballot will include the list of DA members who are running as Delegates of Dems Abroad at the Democratic National Convention. DA will be represented by about 25 Delegates from among our membership to Charlotte, N.C. in September 2012 standing among the delegates from every State and carrying the vote of all our members. At DA Switzerland's Global Primary election in Geneva, we will be voting for those candidates from our EMEA region (Europe-Middle East-Africa). Several DA Switzerland members have thrown their name in the hat. Come out and support them and help us send one (or more) of them to Charlotte to represent us! More details about the Global Primary and Delegate Selection Plan can be found on www.democratsabroad.org (orange button). Voting will be conducted on site or by absentee ballot for those unable to attend in person. We will keep you updated with details in the coming months. Questions? Please contact chair@democrats.ch. Volunteers are needed to prepare and run our Global Primary election. Can you help?

Do you work for a company or government agency that employs more than 10 Americans in Switzerland? Are you active in the local branch of your alumni association? Do you participate in any local club or social group that includes more than 10 Americans? Are you here in a study abroad program?

We hope to see you at one or more of these many events and gatherings planned in the coming weeks!
